NBA Betting with BetUS: Strategies and Tips
Have you wanted to bet on your favorite NBA team or player but found yourself confused when it comes to getting started? Our guide NBA Betting with BetUS: Strategies and Tips has the information you're looking for.
Getting Started With NBA Bets
Head to the sportsbook and click "Basketball" on the left side of your computer screen or scroll down on your phone or tablet and find basketball.
Once you've clicked on basketball, the list of NBA games appears. You can choose to bet on the entire game, 1st quarter, 4th quarter, or 1st half. Try clicking on the entire game.
Options appear and give you point spread, money line, total, or team total betting options.
- Point Spread - How much do you think the margin of victory will be?
- Money Line - Pick the team or player you think will win the game
- Total (Over/Under) - Total the number of points you think both teams will score by the end of the game.
- Team Total - The total amount of points your chosen team will score by the end of the game.
- Props Betting - In the regular season, prop (propositional) bets are also allowed. There are player props and team props where you're betting on the player or team to score a certain amount.
- Futures Betting - Also available in the regular season, futures betting allows you to place bets on outcomes over several months of games.
You can set the grid to show "American" odds, "Decimal" odds, or "Fractional" odds. What does that mean?
- American - Listed as a negative or positive and is the money you'd need to wager in order to win $100
- Decimal - The return you'd get for every $1 you wager.
- Fractional - Take the fraction and convert it to a number (such as ¼ is 0.25) and multiply that by your wager.
Here's an Example using American Odds
With the NBA Championship Game between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets, you can place:
- Point Spread bet with a point spread bet of +9 (Heat) or -9 (Nuggets) pays +290 for Miami or -370 for Denver
- Money Line pays -110
- Total Game with Over 219 ½ or Under 219 1/2 pays -110
- Team Total Game with the betting choices of Over 105 ½ and Under 105 ½ (Heat) or Over 114 ½ and Under 114 ½ (Nuggets) pays -115
If you placed a bet of $100 on the Nuggets to win with a total of 100 points and were correct, you'd win $86.96. If you wagered $100 using a Money Line bet and risked $100, a winning bet would get you $290.
